sHARING MY EXPERIENCE / Alex Fares (Suppport) Hi my name is Alex Fares and i commend you on the support of your lovely baby. he needs all the loving and caring which i'm pretty sure he's getting. I would like to share my story with you about my baby that was born with complications to the brain and spine. Her name iz ZAHRAA. When she was born, Dr's took her into intensive care immediately and we were shocked because we did not know what was going on. After dr's delivered the horrific news, my daughter Zahraa was diagnosed with Meckel Gruber Syndrome. Its a disorder that affects the Spine, Vision, Speech, and other physical attributes. Dr's gave her a couple of months to live and told us to arrange for funeral arrangements. Me and my wife were devestated by the news and we did not know what to do. But by the grace of god we wanted a second opinion from other Dr's. And as it turns out there was hope and a chance she might make it. A few months passed and countless surgeries were performed on her which included a VP-SHUNT placed in her head to drain fluid build-up so it does not cause any swelling to her brain. And now she is 7 years old and still with complications and she has our unconditional love and support. We love her and will do what ever it takes to make her life easier. So have faith in god and don't ever lose hope....

Hello.
I would like to let anyone who is reading this to have faith that Naseem will make it through all of this just fine. I myself was born with this rare condition in May of 1979 in Calgary, Canada and I am alive and well today living a normal life.
With today's medical advancements Naseem should have no problems overcoming the many obstacles that will stand in his path as he grows. I myself had several operations, the last one being when I was 5 years old, and I managed to live a normal childhood with a few restrictions on some activities that i could be involved in.
From what I understand, there are about a half dozen other survivors as well living in North America and you would never know it if you saw any of them. The Hasni family still has a long road ahead of them but with your support, and with the knowledge that there are other survivors out there who were also born with this rare condition, they will be able to overcome these obstacles and live a seemingly normal life.
